Now, “AI jobs” has hit its own peak.535 Total viewsListen to article 0:00NewsJoin us on social networksArtificial intelligence (AI) has become a clear-cut winner in the battle for job seekers, according to a new analysis from cryptocurrency data aggregator CoinGecko.

From 2020 to 2022, searches for “AI jobs” and “crypto jobs” remained fairly close, with AI taking the crown most days and crypto pulling into the lead upon Bitcoin (BTC) reaching an all-time high of $69,000 in November 2021.

Along with increased adoption and interest in both Web3 and cryptocurrency technologies, the crypto boom of 2022 brought job seekers in record numbers — at least if such interest is gauged by Google searches.

After the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, however, searches for “AI jobs” skyrocketed.1/ Which search term is more popular: ‘Crypto Jobs’ or ‘AI Jobs’?

Our study indicates that search interest in ‘AI jobs’ peaked 4 times higher than ‘crypto jobs’ as more industries and job seekers shift focus to the AI sector.

According to the CoinGecko study, “AI job” searches in 2023 peaked at nearly five times the number of searches for “crypto jobs” at their peak and, as of July 5, remained four times higher.

The report indicates that prior to BTC’s all-time high of $69,000, searches for “AI jobs” trumped similar crypto-related queries by a margin of 3-to-1. Once BTC hit $69,000, however, searches for “crypto jobs” eclipsed AI on two occasions:“At its peak score of 26 on both January 9 and 30, 2022, search interest in ‘Crypto Jobs’ surpassed ‘AI Jobs’, and was also 5 times higher than its baseline in January 2020.”

CoinGecko’s methodology utilizes a rank scoring system to determine “search interest.” It takes into account Google search data from around the world. However, the researchers do mention that Google isn’t the primary search engine in every geographical area, so the results may not necessarily reflect the ground truth for interest.

Notably, among the analysts’ other findings, Singapore has the highest search interest rating among all nations for both “AI jobs” and “crypto jobs” keywords.
