Talent Protocol — a platform focused on creating an onchain reputation system for builders and creators — aims to address the unique challenges faced in recruiting and retaining talent within the decentralized space.

Oliveira"s journey into the blockchain sector began in late 2020, motivated by his experiences in the talent technology industry. Observing the fragmented and inefficient processes that dominate traditional recruitment, he co-founded Talent Protocol to create a more transparent and effective system for managing professional reputations in the Web3 world.

Oliveira highlighted a significant issue facing the Web3 space: the need for more builders and innovators.

While Web3 has successfully attracted talent from traditional sectors like finance and technology, retaining this talent has proven difficult. He noted that the initial influx of professionals into the space was not met with adequate infrastructure or support, leading to a talent drain.

However, with recent advancements and a more stable ecosystem, in his point of view, the industry is better equipped to retain skilled individuals.

Central to Talent Protocol’s offering is the “talent passport,” an onchain resume aggregating data from both Web2 and Web3 platforms. This includes connections to digital wallets, GitHub activity and LinkedIn profiles, which contribute to a builder’s score — a metric designed to reflect a person’s reputation and contributions within the Web3 space.

According to Oliveira, such a system is crucial for hiring in decentralized industries, as it provides a reliable and transparent method for assessing talent.

Looking ahead, Oliveira envisions onchain reputation systems like Talent Protocol becoming integral to the hiring process in Web3. As the industry continues to mature, these tools could play a vital role in helping companies identify and engage with top talent, offering a hopeful solution to one of the sector’s most pressing challenges.
