When Gerard Deulofue ran out onto the pitch on Sunday to meet London rivals Arsenal in the English Premier League, Sportsbet.io wasn’t the only thing people would have noticed on his football jersey. The Bitcoin logo, familiar to many but likely not seen in many parts of the world, was also displayed prominently on his sleeve, along with that of all other Watford FC players.

The Premier League team and its betting sponsor Coingaming.io(for whom Sportsbet.ioare a brand) are now proud to update their home kit to include the world-famous Bitcoin logo, ₿, to show their support for the world’s favorite cryptocurrency.

They will be wearing this home kit for the rest of the 2019/2020 season, signifying a visual segment of a crypto educational campaign led by cutting-edge sports betting brand Sportsbet.io.

Affectionately known as the Hornets, Watford FC signed a deal with Sportsbet.ioback in June, and will now carry on active participation in the latter’s wider campaign to bring wider awareness and education about Bitcoin and the beneficial features of using cryptocurrencies.

Sportsbet.io marketing boss Justin Le Brocque explained how users of Sportsbet were also active users of Bitcoin and the like, and that it was their initial support that helped place them on the map. He said: “The crypto community has been massively supportive of us since our beginnings, so putting the Bitcoin logo on the sleeve felt like a fun way to give back while also showing our support for the community.”

True to the spirit of crypto, the sponsorship is a crowdfunded one, allowing any Bitcoin holders to get a share in the benefits given to Watford FC sponsors. For instance, you can only bid for ad spaces on the LED board during live matches using bitcoin. Other experiences like the Bitcoin box and exclusive team merchandise that can only be purchased using Bitcoin.

Le Brocque went on further to say that they wanted to help raise the right kind of awareness about crypto to dispel common stereotypes, while giving the public an actual demonstration of the benefits that crypto promises. He added: “Our partnership with Watford marks a major disruption in the world of traditional sports sponsorship, and by adding the Bitcoin logo we hope this world’s first partnership will create even more buzz around cryptocurrencies.”

Sportsbet.io is in on the gig too and is giving away a massive free sports bet in Bitcoin(2 mbtc worth around $20 at current price) to all Sportsbet.io players if the home team can score against their opponents on Sunday.

Watford FC CEO and Chairman Scott Duxbury supported the move fully, saying that:: “Placing the Bitcoin logo on a Premier League shirt is something that challenges the accepted norm. We’re excited about the partnerships and the potential for new global conversations that it could help start for our club.”

Sportsbet.io made crypto history by being the first blockchain and crypto firm to make an appearance on the front of an English Premier League jersey, with a three-year partnership signed with Watford FC.

As part of Sportsbet.io’s ‘Know No Borders’ campaign, the brand emphasizes the importance of placing players in the spotlight, regardless of nationality, sport, loyalty or currency.

Bitcoin is only one of many currencies, both regular and crypto, accepted at Sportsbet.io. Enjoy fun, fast and fair gaming at  https://sportsbet.io/. Chat with the community on Twitter @sportsbetioand Reddit at r/sportsbetio/.
