A cryptocurrency pair is basically a price comparison of two crypto tokens.  The most popular cryptocurrency pair is BTC/ETH.  In this cryptocurrency trading pair, you can find out how much an Ethereum token is worth in Bitcoin.  In other words, the trading pair represents how many tokens you can buy with a different token for a certain amount.
Much like traditional currency trading, cryptocurrency exchanges rely on crypto trading pairs to represent the value of each token.  When cryptocurrencies were first introduced as financial options, there were not many trading pairs available.  Most of the businesses were tied to Bitcoin, as it is the main cryptocurrency token.  Today, with the abundance of altcoins in the market, new trading pairs emerge within hours.

Cryptocurrency trading pairs allow investors to make smart decisions about the transactions they want to complete through an exchange.  As more pairs become available, traders have a variety of trades they can execute.  To successfully exchange one cryptocurrency token for another, you either need to find an exchange that supports that trading pair, or you need to make several trades between different pairs to reach the final result you are looking for.
In this sense, trading pairs represent the availability of different trading options on a given exchange.  In a hypothetical scenario, a trader is looking to exchange Litecoin (LTC) for Polkadot (DOT), however, the exchange they are using does not support that trading pair.  This means that the trader must first trade LTC for Bitcoin and then exchange that amount of Bitcoin for DOT.
Today's discussion ends here.  I hope you find it interesting and able to understand.  Share your thoughts on today's topic.  Wishes and blessings to all.  Everyone stay well stay healthy stay with Steemit.
