While blockchain technologies are traditionally discussed alongside cryptocurrencies, exciting applications are starting to spill over into debate and conversation in entirely different industries.Blockchain technologies are already all around us, whether you are aware of them or not.  But what exactly makes blockchain technologies so remarkable?  As leading researchers in the field, Stanford faculty provide a wealth of insight into these topics, ranging from courses on cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.

Interested in learning about the components of blockchain technology and their functions?  Blockchain, as the moniker suggests, is an uneditable, block of data linked in a digital chain.  This information is stored in an open source decentralized environment, where each block's information can be verified by each participating computer.  It is designed for decentralized management rather than the traditional hierarchical system we are familiar with.  A decentralized framework like blockchain helps ensure trust, validity and usability.Blockchain is a constantly evolving and complex field that provides an increasingly popular channel for online transactions and various applications.  But how does blockchain work?  Key terms – proof of work vs proof of stake, miners, distributed ledger technology and more – create barriers to understanding.  A system that seems vast and complex can be made more transparent by clear steps with clear terminology explanations.
Today's discussion ends here.  I hope you find it interesting and able to understand.  Share your thoughts on today's topic.
