El Salvador Launches Live Bitcoin Tracking Website
El Salvador's "one Bitcoin per day" strategy is now live and trackable online. As of today, the country's Bitcoin holdings have reached a total value of $360 million. The government has published a Proof-of-Reserves website, allowing users to monitor the country's Bitcoin inflows and on-chain data in real-time.
According to the data, El Salvador currently holds 5,748 BTC, valued at $360 million. In the last month, the country purchased 31 Bitcoin for a total of $1.94 million. Under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador is currently buying one BTC per day. The average purchase price is $43,097, according to the Nayib Bukele Portfolio Tracking website. This brings the country's total investments to $57.4 million in the green.
In September 2021, El Salvador declared Bitcoin as a legal tender in the country, making it a pioneer in the state's adoption of cryptocurrency. While adoption among citizens is still lagging, the government's bet on Bitcoin seems to be paying off.
El Salvador is not the only crypto-friendly country in South America. Paraguay and Argentina are also among the region's most crypto-accepting nations. In Argentina, the state-owned energy company YPF recently partnered with Genesis Digital Assets (GDA) to launch a Bitcoin mining facility.
