What is TRON ( TRX )
TRON (TRX) is a decentralized, blockchain-based operating system with smart contract functionality, proof-of-stake principles as its consensus algorithm, and a native cryptocurrency known as Tronix (TRX). Established in March 2014 by Justin Sun, TRON has a 3-layer architecture and aims to distribute computing resources equally among TRX holders. It was originally an Ethereum-based ERC-20 token but switched to its own blockchain in 2018.
TRON has faced criticisms and legal issues, including a lawsuit by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for selling unregistered securities. Despite controversies, TRON continues to be active in the cryptocurrency space, offering features like zero transaction fees and a decentralized virtual machine for executing programs across a network of public nodes.
